Startling and sad, but absolutely true!

THE ONLY THING WRONG WITH THE GOVERNMENT'S CALCULATION OF AVAILABLE SOCIAL SECURITY IS THEY FORGOT TO FIGURE IN THE PEOPLE WHO DIED BEFORE THEY EVER COLLECTED A SOCIAL SECURITY CHECK!!!

WHERE DID THATMONEY GO?

Remember, not only did you and I contribute to Social Security but your employer did, too.
It totaled 15% of your income before taxes.
If you averaged only $30K over your working life, that's close to $220,500.
Read that again.
Did you see where the Government paid in one single penny?
We are talking about the money you and your employer put in a Government bank to insure you and I that we would have a retirement check from the money we put in, not the Government.
Now they are calling the money we put in an entitlement when we reach the age to take it back.

If you calculate the future invested value of $4,500 per year (yours & your employer's contribution) at a simple 5% interest (less than what the Government pays on the money that it borrows), after 49 years of working you'd
have $892,919.98.

If you took out only 3% per year, you'd receive $26,787.60 per year and it would last better than 30 years (until you're 95 if you retire at age 65) and that's with no interest paid on that final amount on deposit!
If you bought an annuity and it paid 4% per year, you'd have a lifetime income of $2,976.40 per month.

Another thing with me.... I have two deceased husbands who died in their 50's, (one was 51 and the other one was 59 before one percent of their social security could be drawn.
I worked all my life and am drawing 100% on my own social security).
Their S.S. money will never have one cent drawn from what they paid into S.S. all their lives.

THE FOLKS IN WASHINGTON HAVE PULLED OFF A BIGGER PONZI SCHEME THAN BERNIE MADOFF EVER DID.

Entitlement my foot, I paid cash for my social security insurance!
Just because they borrowed the money for other government spending, doesn't make my benefits some kind of charity or handout!!

Remember Congressional benefits? --- free healthcare, outrageous retirement packages, 67 paid holidays, three weeks paid vacation, unlimited paid sick days.
Now that's welfare, and they have the nerve to call my social security retirement payments entitlements?

We're "broke" and we can't help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, or Homeless.
Yet in the last few months we have provided aid to Haiti, Chile and Turkey.
And now Pakistan......home of bin Laden.
Literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!!
And they can't help our own citizens in New York and New Jersey!

They call Social Security and Medicare an entitlement even though most of us have been paying for it all our working lives, and now, when it's time for us to collect, the government is running out of money.
Why did the government borrow from it in the first place?
It was supposed to be in a locked box, not part of the general fund.

Lies and Spies

"No sir, it does not.  Not wittingly."

Those were the words National Intelligence Director James Clapper spoke before Congress on April 18, 2013 when asked if the NSA collected any data at all on American citizens.

Today, you and I know that statement was nothing more than an outright LIE.  The NSA is collecting literally BILLIONS of phone records on American citizens every day.

Today, our Fourth Amendment – which protects Americans from government search and seizure unless there is probable cause of a crime – is under assault like never before.  I’m doing everything I can to protect it.

Part of that is the pending lawsuit where I plan to sue the NSA – taking the case all the way to the Supreme Court – to take back our rights.  But the truth is, this is only part of my plan.

Today, I’m asking you to please sign the Fourth Amendment Protection Act petition I’ve made up for you IMMEDIATELY.

And if you can, I must ask for your generous support as well

Every dollar you give will help me mobilize more Americans to stop the statists’ spying scheme.

Click to sign

You see, just like the "false and misleading" statements Obama’s IRS made before Congress about targeting Tea Party and conservative organizations for harassment, Clapper lied to conceal flatly wrong and unconstitutional behavior.

I know the statists tell us Big Brother lies and spies for our own good.

And if we’re "not doing anything wrong, we don’t have anything to worry about."

I wish it were that simple.

But looking at this administration’s track record, starting a Tea Party organization is "wrong" and singles you out for harassment.

We’ve already seen the outright smearing of law-abiding gun owners and the derision of those who "cling" to their guns and religion.

We see the Obama administration covering up Benghazi, then tapping Susan Rice – who helped mislead the American people in the wake of that outrage – for a promotion.

Our Constitution was crafted because they understood our liberties would be under constant assault.

Today, our nation is $17 TRILLION in debt.  Government officials tell us what size sodas we can buy and what kind of light bulbs we can put in our homes.

We’re supposed to "trust" them with the broad power to track, trace and register all law-abiding American citizens’ communications – likely including not just phone records, but texts, credit card purchases, Internet activity, and emails?

This country fought a revolution over issues like generalized warrants, where soldiers would go from house to house, searching anything they liked.

Our lives are now so digitized that the government going from computer to computer or phone to phone is the modern equivalent of the same type of tyranny that our Founders rebelled against.

This madness has to be stop.

Since news broke about the NSA’s wiretapping scandal, the Big Government establishment in BOTH parties have doubled-down, desperate to shift blame to anyone but themselves.

But the American people’s outrage hasn’t subsided.

It’s time to turn that outrage into action.

I’ve introduced the Fourth Amendment Protection Act to stop the kind of mass data collection of American citizens that the NSA is conducting right now.

Now I’m counting on you to send the message to my colleagues you’re insisting on its passage.

Click to sign

It won’t be easy.

I expect some of my colleagues to fight you and me every step of the way.

But this is not a fight you and I can ignore.

So won’t you please sign your Fourth Amendment Protection Act petition?

And, if you can, please agree to a generous contribution of $250, $100, $50, $35 – or whatever you can afford – TODAY.

As I mentioned, every dollar you give will help me mobilize more Americans to stop this outrageous assault on our liberties.

I’m prepared to use email, mail, web ads, social media – and even hard-hitting TV ads combined with a full-scale media campaign if I can raise the resources.

But I can’t put any of this into action without your generous financial support.

I truly believe this is a defining moment for our country.

Are our elected officials above the law?

Will we simply acquiesce and "look the other way" as the statists run roughshod over our Constitution?

Or will we stand up and fight for our liberties?

If you’re prepared to stand with me, please sign your Fourth Amendment Protection Act petition right away and agree to your most generous contribution of $250, $100, $50, $35 – or whatever you can afford – TODAY!

In liberty,
sig
Senator Rand Paul

P.S.  Our Fourth Amendment – which protects Americans from government search and seizure unless there is probable cause of a crime – is under assault like never before.

I’ve introduced the Fourth Amendment Protection Act to stop the kind of mass data collection of American citizens the NSA is conducting right now.

But statists in BOTH parties will do whatever they can to defeat my bill.

Roe v. Wade

I've recorded an important message for you detailing how we can finally overturn Roe v. Wade.

Would you take just a moment to listen to it?

I feel so strongly about this message that I wanted to tell you with my own words rather than writing it down in an email.

July 4th

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG,
OF THE UNITED
STATES OF AMERICA,

AND TO THE REPUBLIC,
FOR WHICH IT STANDS,
ONE NATION UNDER GOD,
INDIVISIBLE,
WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!

For all of our other military personnel, where ever they may be.
Please support all of the troops defending our Country.

And may God bless our military,
who are protecting our country for our freedom.
Thanks to them, and their sacrifices, we can celebrate the 4th of July.

We must never forget who gets the credit for the freedoms we have,
of which we should be eternally grateful.

I watched the flag pass by one day.
It fluttered in the breeze.

A young Marine saluted it,
And then he stood at ease.

I looked at him in uniform;
so young, so tall, so proud.
With hair cut square and eyes alert,
he'd stand out in any crowd.

I thought how many men like him
had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil;
how many mothers' tears?

How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea?
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
NO, FREEDOM ISN'T FREE !

I heard the sound of Taps one night,
when everything was still.
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.

I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant 'Amen.'

When a flag had draped a coffin
of a brother or a friend.

I thought of all the children,
of the mothers and the wives,
of fathers, sons, and husbands
With interrupted lives.

I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea.

Of unmarked graves in Arlington.
NO, FREEDOM ISN'T FREE!

Enjoy Your Freedom and
God Bless Our Troops.

A Laughable Post

I received this via email from my aunt in Gilbert today and since I literally "lol-ed" I thought I'd better post it for more people to enjoy!

Stanley died in a fire and his body was burned pretty badly. The morgue needed someone to identify the body, so they sent for his two best deer hunting friends, Cooter and Gomer. The three men had always hunted and fished together and were long time members of a hunt camp.

Cooter arrived first, and when the mortician pulled back the sheet, Cooter said, 'Yup, his face is burned up pretty bad. You better roll him over.' The mortician rolled him over and Cooter said, 'Nope, ain't Stanley.'

The mortician thought this was rather strange, So he brought Gomer in to confirm the identity of the body. Gomer looked at the body and said, 'Yup, he's pretty well burnt up, Roll him over.' The mortician rolled him over and Gomer said, 'No, it ain't Stanley.'

The mortician asked, 'How can you tell?' Gomer said, 'Well, Stanley had two ass-holes.'

'What! He had two ass-holes?' asked the mortician.

'Yup, we never seen 'em, but everybody used to say: 'There's Stanley with them two ass-holes.'

Cooter and Gomer are both now employed in the Obama administration as planning, development, and strategy consultants.

For Immediate Release

June 18, 2013
Constitutional Amendment Introduced to Protect
Children and Parents
I am very excited to announce that we were just able to send out the following press release announcing the introduction of the Parental Rights Amendment in the 113th Congress:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE // June 18, 2013 // Washington, D.C. – Congressman Mark Meadows (R-NC) today introduced a resolution in the U.S. House to amend the United States Constitution to protect children and parents from governmental overreach. The proposed Parental Rights Amendment already has 40 original cosponsors. ParentalRights.org leads grassroots support for the measure.

“In a time when longstanding truths and traditions are being tested, we must safeguard the right of parents to direct their children’s upbringing and education,” Meadows explained. “This amendment to our Constitution would ensure that these decisions are made not by faceless bureaucrats but by parents who love their children and know them best.

Constitutional lawyer and ParentalRights.org president Michael Farris agrees. “Traditionally the Supreme Court has held that fit parents make decisions that are in their child’s best interests. But that presumption is being eroded today in our courts and in U.N. conventions. More and more, judges are making decisions based on what they think is best for the child, rather than respecting the natural right of loving parents to make that call.

The proposed amendment would establish, in part, that “[t]he liberty of parents to direct the upbringing, education, and care of their children is a fundamental right.” Other sections establish a high legal standard to protect these rights and a safeguard against international law overriding the parental role. This is the fourth consecutive Congress in which the measure has been introduced.

Support for the Parental Rights Amendment has increased through a number of high-profile incidents in recent months, including a California case in which Child Protective Services removed a baby from his parents’ custody because they sought a second medical opinion prior to heart surgery. And more recently, a bill that would assign a government worker to oversee every child from birth is being considered in Scotland in response to their obligations under the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child. Parental rights supporters believe the proposed amendment will keep such laws from ever being adopted here.

More information on the proposed Amendment, including the full text and a current list of cosponsors, is available at ParentalRights.org. (End press release.)
Action Items
If your Congressman is not yet on board, call or email his office and urge him to cosponsor this important resolution. To find contact information and to see whether he is already on board, click on your state at ParentalRights.org/States.

You might also want to tweet (on Twitter) or post to your congressman’s Facebook page urging support for the Amendment. In addition to making contact (as in a phone call or email), you will be making it public as well. Others can see that you have broached this subject with him, which often inspires a more timely response.

Also, check out our website again on Wednesday or Thursday for a bill number. Now that the bill has been introduced, a number will be assigned within the next 72 hours. As soon as that happens, we will post that number on our website so that you can use it in your correspondence with your representative.

Sincerely,

Michael Ramey

New Ford Truck

Nothing like a Ford Truck.
New Truck built by a company we didn't bail out...

I bought a new Ford F250 Tri-Flex Fuel Truck. Go figure-- it runs on either hydrogen, gasoline, or E85.
I returned it to the dealer yesterday because I couldn't get the radio to work. The service technician explained that the radio was voice activated.

"Nelson",the technician said to the radio.

The radio replied, "Ricky or Willie?"

"Willie!" he continued and "On The Road Again" came from the speakers.

Then he said, "Ray Charles!", and in an instant

" Georgia On My Mind" replaced Willie Nelson.

I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time I'd say, "Beethoven",I'd get beautiful classical music, and if I said, "Beatles",I'd get one of their awesome songs.

Yesterday, some guy ran a red light and nearly creamed my new truck, but I swerved in time to avoid him.

I yelled,
"Ass Hole!"
Immediately the radio responded with, "Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States ."

Damn I love this truck....

Cyclical History

—  JBS Weekly Member Update  —
June 17, 2013
That Cyclical History Thing
We've all heard the saying that history is cyclical. The reason given is that those who do not know their history are doomed to repeat it. Yet, what happens when you don't know the right history or the crucial context of it? You're right back to repeating it or making a worse decision based on false information.

A recent online newsletter described a hypothetical scenario for readers: Think about being kidnapped and whisked away to an undisclosed location with your senses impaired. You don't know where you are, how you got there, and anything that might provide clues or guidelines has been obscured or hidden from you.

You're in the same situation if you do not know your history. How do you know solutions to problems if you don't know how it was handled in the past?

Case in point. What is the solution to ObamaCare? Are you willing to get into a spirited debate over all of its negatives as you get pummeled by all the positives it supposedly delivers? Have you read through the thousands of pages of the law and the many more thousands of the regulations, which they are still writing? Have you immersed yourself in the law to see whether or not state health care exchanges are a good idea?

Let us save you some time and a whole lot of reading. We know from history that America was founded as a constitutional republic. We know that there are a number of checks and balances included in this republic. We know the Constitution lays out the infrastructure and a list of enumerated powers for the federal government and leaves all other powers to the individual states. We know from studying original intent and from reading the Constitution that health care does not fall within the scope of the federal government. We know health care is a service provided in the marketplace to purchase, trade, barter or work toward. We know the states are sovereign entities that need to stand up to protect citizens from the heavy hand of unconstitutional government. We know that Supreme Court justices are not appointed for life, but rather "during good behavior."

We also know Congress has the ability to fix many of its unconstitutional measures simply by chronologically repealing many of its measures, beginning with the most recent.

All of these stated facts lead to their own solutions because of the proper historical perspective and proper knowledge of limited government under the Constitution. Knowing this can provide citizens with a road map for restoring the federal government back to its proper limitations, restore individual liberties, and shift our responsibilities back to our families and local communities.

However, we cannot sit back and let someone else do this. The John Birch Society provides the perspective, the plan, and the tools for victory. If you're not already involved, you're invited to do sohttp://www.jbs.org/join-jbs/join-jbs

Joint Press Release Statement

Arizona State Legislature

Senate President Andy Biggs , R-12
602-926-4371
House Speaker Andy Tobin, R-1

JOINT  STATEMENT
June 11, 2013

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Statement from Senate President Andy Biggs and House Speaker Andy Tobin on the Governor’s call for a Special Session

“This evening, Governor Brewer summoned legislators to convene a special session to address the FY14 budget and Medicaid expansion. The special session was called without any consultation with Senate or House leadership, and was designed to commence at the precise moment it was conveyed. We are disappointed and stunned that the Governor and her staff would resort to such an unnecessary, impulsive and unprecedented tactic.

Since the beginning of the session, Senate and House leadership have made the budgetary process a top priority. Additionally, the debate regarding the full implementation of Obamacare in Arizona was already fully under way. In fact, these two specific items have not only consistently been a top legislative focus, but the other essential bills of the legislature have also been moving through our respective chambers. Instead of allowing the process to proceed in an orderly manner, the Governor made the impetuous decision to intercede and collude with the democrat minority in order to force an expedited vote on her sole legislative priority of Obamacare.

We are frustrated and bewildered by her overt hostility and disregard for the budgetary process which was already well under way. The blatant disrespect and reckless practices exhibited by this Executive are less than what was expected of her and more than should be tolerated.”

Paul on Hannity

Last night, I appeared on The Sean Hannity Show to discuss President Obama's NSA eavesdropping on billions of emails and phone calls of Americans citizens every day.

I've included the video below for you, which you can watch by scrolling down . . .

Bill Proposes Massive Invasion of Every Family

June 11, 2013
Bill Proposes Massive Invasion of Every Family
The government of Scotland is proposing the ultimate invasion of the family in order to “protect” children. According to legislation proposed by the government (and which faces no organized opposition), a social worker will be assigned to monitor each and every child from birth. The government social worker would have the authority and responsibility to “safeguard the wellbeing of the child or young person” through “(i) advising, informing, or supporting the child…, (ii) helping the child…to access a service or support, or (iii) discussing, or raising, a matter about the child” with other government agencies.

In short, every child will be assigned his own mandatory reporter/government monitor from birth.

According to the bill itself, this legislation is proposed to comply with Scotland’s duties under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC, or CRC) which —like the related Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD)—requires that the government ensure that in every decision the “best interests” of the child be the paramount consideration. According to international law scholar and University of London professor Geraldine Van Bueren, this “Best interests [standard] provides decision and policy makers with the authority to substitute their own decisions for either the child’s or the parents’, providing it is based on considerations of the best interest of the child.”

Appointing a social worker to monitor every child in the nation is the logical response to the demand from the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child in 2008 that the United Kingdom should establish independent Children’s Commissioners “equipped with the necessary human and financial resources in order…that the rights of all children in all parts of the State party are safeguarded.”

“This is the most invasive, anti-parent proposal since ancient Sparta,” said Michael Farris, President of Parentalrights.org. The Supreme Court in Meyer v. Nebraska gave us this explanation of the Spartan practice that Farris references:
In order to submerge the individual and develop ideal citizens, Sparta assembled the males at [age] seven into barracks and entrusted their subsequent education and training to official guardians. Although such measures have been deliberately approved by men of great genius their ideas touching the relation between individual and state were wholly different from those upon which our institutions rest; and it hardly will be affirmed that any Legislature could impose such restrictions upon the people of a state without doing violence to both letter and spirit of the Constitution.
Sadly, while Scotland was once based on foundations similar to our own, they are abandoning these vital principles.

“The recognition of the importance of privacy, of the authority of parents and the protection of this privacy and authority by society is declining fast,” Stuart Walton explained in an interview with Lifesite News. Walton is a sociology and criminology lecturer at Albertay University in Dundee. “Today it is assumed parenting is simply too hard, children are simply too vulnerable, and risks are simply too great to allow for this luxury called ‘privacy’. This is why nobody is attacking this new bill….”

Minister for Children and Young People Aileen Campbell (MSP) pretty well agrees, though she sees no problem with that. Campbell asserts, "Children and young people deserve services that can intervene more effectively and earlier in their lives and that listen and take full account of their views and rights. Achieving this involves a programme of change that is not limited to any one service, but embraces a change in the culture and practice of all services that affect the lives of children, young people and their families."

There is no consideration for family privacy or the right of parents to direct a child’s upbringing. Apparently, if the destruction of these liberties is the only way to ensure this early intervention, Scotland is willing to pay that price.

The Privacy Impact Report of the Scottish government reflects this: “As wellbeing becomes the focus, information sharing will become more common and may at times occur contrary to the wishes of the child or family; this may result in the child or family having a lack of trust.” Despite this, the bill continues uncontested in the Scottish Parliament.

In contrast, our Supreme Court has held that “the statist notion that governmental power should supersede parental authority in all cases because some parents abuse and neglect children is repugnant to the American tradition.”

Sadly, though, policy leaders and lawmakers in America are looking to lead us away from our roots, onto the same path that Scotland has adopted.
Coming to America?
The CRPD, which was narrowly defeated by a 61-38 vote in December (only 5 votes shy of the two-thirds majority needed for passage), is once again rumored to be on the agenda of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. If ratified, this treaty would eliminate the legal presumption of parental fitness and introduce in its place this “best interests of the child” standard.

To combat this trend, the proposed Parental Rights Amendment contains language that protects the presumption of parental fitness, as well as a section to prevent the use of any source of international law in overriding the liberty of parents to raise their child. Once this Amendment is adopted by Congress and ratified by 38 states, the danger of these treaties to American families will be neutralized.

Action Items
In the short term, we must convince the Senate not to ratify the CRPD. If you have not already done so, please call your senators and urge them to preserve parental rights and family privacy by rejecting the ratification of this treaty. You can call the Capitol Switchboard at (202)-224-3121 or find your senator’s office phone number by clicking on your state at ParentalRights.org/States.

The long term solution, however, is to adopt the Parental Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Encourage your congressman to become an original cosponsor of this important resolution

To see whether your congressman is already a sponsor, and to find contact information for their D.C. office, click on your state at ParentalRights.org/States. If your congressman is not already a cosponsor, ask that he contact Patrick Fleming in Rep. Mark Meadows’ office to sign on.

Only through perseverance together can we prevent America from stumbling onto Scotland's dangerous and tyrannical path.

Sincerely,

Michael Ramey
