Letter to the Editor:
DID WE WIN TOO?
An
article I read this morning was written by a Writer/Doctor who said,
"This morning I drove my daughter to school. I saw no mobs, no road blockades, no police stops and no one to impede the pleasure of a wonderful morning drive".
We did win! We live in the
greatest and freest country in the world. Were some of us disappointed
last night, sure! Were some of us happy, of course! It is the process of
a free people. Others in our world look at us and wish they had a particle of what we take so much for granted.
Can you imagine what the newly reelected resident of the White House felt as he woke up this morning to absolute chaos in
our Country's financial system,
high gas prices, unemployment at about 8%, no
jobs for twenty plus million of our citizens, massive destruction in
the wake of Hurricane Sandy, another major storm bearing down on that
same hard hit area of the East and Northeast, Homeland Security and FEMA
not able to function, and half the Nation in post Election shock. The
same problems exist that he had when he went to bed, one party controls
the Senate, one controls the House and the President has no mandate.
Another
Writer/Radio personality said, as he attempted to put clarity on what
happened last night, "Who
would vote against
Santa Claus?" He then answered the question by saying that about half
of our voting Nation made that question by their vote last night. It
appeared that the hard work requirement presented by Romney as a way to
make this Country of ours to function again, and that made our Country
great in the past, lost to those who believe it is the purpose of
government to make all things better----that Santa Claus would make all
things better.
What
has happened to that attitude, that work ethic, that drive which made
our
Country the envy of the world?
What happened to the strength we showed that made our enemies hide in
fear of a great people, that made us the leader of the world in the race
to the Moon, that made us the leader in microelectronics? Has that part
of our Nation and their leaders, who wouldn't vote against Santa Claus,
so changed us that we are now a weak and submissive people? Our current
President makes excuses for our Country as if there is something for
which we should be ashamed. Should we be ashamed?
We are an exceptional people with great hearts
and strong abilities to
overcome any obstacle placed in our way to help one another, to regain that drive, that exceptionalism,
we once had. We relish and will stand for the opportunity to continue
to be able to drive our kids to school in peace without mobs and check
points. Will it take effort, yes. It will even take work.

I shall dare say "yes, yes we did." We are ever so blessed to live in this country and not a one of us should take it for granted.
