Israel and other noteworthy items from Rep. Gosar

Rockets Over Israel

Dear Friend,
As unrest continues in the Middle East and rockets fly over Tel Aviv, I ask that you please keep the people of Israel in your thoughts and prayers. I stand strongly with our ally Israel. That is why earlier this summer the House passed my amendment to prohibit the use of military funds and military assistance to the Muslim Brotherhood, Iran, Syria, Hamas and Hezbollah.
These groups that harbor hate towards our friend and ally Israel should not receive a dime of taxpayer dollars.

Furthermore, I have prepared a House Resolution that expresses Congress’ support for Israel’s right to self defense—preemptively. My resolution will send a message to the people of Israel and to the world:  we support you.

Rep. Gosar: Rice Appointment Troubling

This week, I joined my colleagues in sending a letter to President Obama which strongly opposes any effort to nominate Ambassador Susan Rice for the position of Secretary of State.

"Ambassador Rice is widely viewed as having either willfully or incompetently misled the American public in the Benghazi matter."

"We believe her misleading statements over the days and weeks following the attack on our embassy in Libya that led to the deaths of Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans caused irreparable damage to her credibility both at home and around the world." Protecting our Second Amendment: "No" to the UN Arms Trade Treaty

Yesterday, I joined my friend and colleague Congressman Mike Kelly in introducing a resolution urging President Obama to not sign onto the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty. Hours after the President won re-election, the United States championed the U.N. committee’s decision to renew talks on an international treaty regulating global arms trade.

This treaty is an attack on our Second Amendment values and it violates
American sovereignty.

The U.S. should not adopt any treaty that poses a threat to national sovereignty or abridges the right to bear arms - guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. Our resolution asserts that if approved by the president, the unconstitutional treaty will be nonbinding and will not receive any federal funding. To view the resolution please click here .

Before Fire Strikes: A Blog Post with the Arizona Farm Bureau.

Arizona’s way of life is repeatedly threatened by bureaucrats who think the best solutions to all of our problems are increased regulations and one-size-fits-all solutions. One of the biggest threats we face not just in Arizona, but throughout the West, is wildfire.

Congressman Gosar introduced the Catastrophic Wildfire Prevention
Act of 2012 (H.R. 5744 ) to remove bureaucratic red tape that is
hurting our forests.

The federal government has an obligation to properly manage our public land, but its ineffective policies put our communities at greater risk, including Arizona agriculture. To read more from my submission to the Arizona Farm Bureau's blog "The Voice" click here

The Latest on Libya and Accountability
Earlier this week, I spoke with Ginny Simone of NRA News on the tragedy of Benghazi, the loss of life on both sides of the border in Operation Fast and Furious and the parallel theme of a lack of accountability from this administration.

Please click above or here to listen to my interview with Ginny Simone.

I also spoke to NRA News about President Obama's decision to keep Eric Holder as Attorney General despite Congress voting to hold him in contempt.
On a Personal Note: Flagstaff High School Volleyball is the State Champion
With an impressive record of 42-0, I want to congratulate the State Champion Flagstaff High School Volleyball team and my daughter for their hard-fought season. This team showed dedication to their sport, to their high school and to each other. My daughter Izzy, a middle blocker for the Flagstaff team, has signed a letter of intent to join the NAU volleyball program next year. I am so proud of her and her teammates.
